iridium constellation has 66 satellites orbiting the Earth. Using the cross-link technology, satellites contact each other without the need of a LES. The Iridium network has a pole-to-pole coverage as a result of the enormous number of satellites in operation, the Low-Earth-Orbit trajectory allows for lower latency values for all kind of traffic and provide faster satellite communications.
